HOW DID DELLAMORTE PHOTOGRAPHY GET STARTED?
I picked up a camera for the first time as a child and never really put it down. In 2006, I made it official, launching Koontz Photography out of Central Florida and spending the next two decades doing what I love: documenting real people in real moments with as much honesty, humor, and heart as I could bring to every session.

WHO IS THE PHOTOGRAPHER BEHIND DELLAMORTE PHOTOGRAPHY?
I'm a mother of four, which means I have spent years navigating beautiful, hilarious, exhausting chaos with humor, patience, and zero tolerance for pretense. It also means I genuinely understand what it feels like to be pulled in seventeen directions while trying to be present for the moment that matters. I bring all of that into every session. The patience. The adaptability. The ability to find the funny thing in the stressful thing. The deep, bone-level understanding that real is always better than perfect.
I'm also neurodivergent, and that has given me a deep appreciation for people who don't fit the mold, whether that's how you love, how your brain works, or how you want your wedding day to look. I know what it feels like to perform "normal" to be taken seriously, so I built my business to be the opposite of that. No judgment, no assumptions, no boxes to fit into.
When I'm not behind the camera, you'll find me at concerts, museums, gardens, thrifting for things I probably don't need, gaming, or painting with watercolors. My kids and I spend time together enjoying cosplay, board games, and anime. We craft, we adventure, we have never met a scavenger hunt we didn't want to win, and we show up to things in full costume without apology. I take my art seriously and myself not so much, and I think that comes through in the work.
WHY DID KOONTZ PHOTOGRAPHY REBRAND TO DELLAMORTE PHOTOGRAPHY?
DellaMorte Photography is a new chapter, and an honest one. The name comes from my favorite horror film, Cemetery Man, in which "dellamorte, dellamore" translates loosely to "of death, of love." I've carried DellaMorte as my artist name for years in my personal paintings and bodypainting work.
This rebrand is also personal. Sometimes a name change is about finally stopping the performance, stepping out of the version of yourself you built for everyone else and into the one that was always actually you. DellaMorte is the name I chose for myself, and it felt right to let the business reflect that same becoming. Same photographer. Same obsession with the real moment. New business name that finally feels my own.

WHAT CREDENTIALS DOES DELLAMORTE PHOTOGRAPHY HOLD?
Hearts & Lens Accredited — an organization dedicated to training photographers to work with people of all abilities, including those with physical, cognitive, and sensory differences. As a neurodivergent person and parent of neurodivergent children, this accreditation is deeply personal. I understand sensory sensitivities, anxiety, and the need for flexibility, and I bring that awareness into every session without needing to be asked.
I'm also currently working toward two advanced designations: Master of Wedding Photography through the PPA, and the Florida Degree of Photographic Excellence through the FPP, judged on photographic merit, digital artistry, and technical proficiency.

WHAT AWARDS HAS DELLAMORTE PHOTOGRAPHY WON?
I want to be transparent about what these awards actually mean. You'll find a lot of "best of" badges floating around the industry that are essentially popularity contests or require nothing more than collecting reviews on a third-party website. I don't engage with those. The awards listed here come from two things that I actually care about: the quality of the images themselves, judged by peers against rigorous professional standards in image competition, and service to the photography community. These are the most recent.

HOW DOES DELLAMORTE PHOTOGRAPHY GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY?
Giving back is something I hold close, and putting my camera and my presence in service of my community is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
Within the photography industry, I currently serve on the boards of both PPCF and FPP, and sit on committees for FPP events including FOCUS. These roles exist because I genuinely believe in building up the community around me, supporting other photographers, raising the standard of the craft in Florida, and making sure newer photographers have people in their corner the way I wish I had when I was starting out.
Beyond the industry, each year I donate my time and services to organizations doing meaningful work in West Volusia and beyond, including the Neighborhood Center of West Volusia, Foundations to Freedom, and others supporting people facing homelessness, addiction, and domestic violence. I'm also a member of Stand in Pride (Southeast), where we offer emotional support and stand in at life events for community members who need us most. I'm also a volunteer photographer with Wish Upon a Wedding, the only wish-granting organization in the world dedicated entirely to providing free weddings and vow renewals to couples where one or both partners are facing a terminal illness or life-altering diagnosis. When time is precious, love deserves to be documented.
I also sponsor Spooky Empire's Film Festival, which in turn funds Reel Dreams and You, a Central Florida nonprofit dedicated to empowering aspiring filmmakers of all ages and backgrounds through education, mentorship, and real on-set experience. It's a program that sits right at the intersection of art, community, and opportunity, which is exactly the kind of work I want to put my name behind.
